Recently, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) released the latest data showing that global semiconductor sales reached 64.9billioninAugust2025,markingasignificant21.764.9billioninAugust2025,markingasignificant21.753.3 billion in the same period of 2024. Compared to $62.1 billion in July 2025, sales also rose by 4.4% month-over-month, demonstrating continued strong momentum in the industry.

Monthly Continuous Growth Signals Clear Industry Recovery Momentum‌

The global semiconductor market has gradually emerged from its downturn since 2024, with particularly outstanding performance in August this year. The 4.4% month-over-month growth indicates that demand is improving across multiple sectors, particularly in memory chips and logic chips, which showed significant growth. SIA President John Neuffer stated, "Global semiconductor sales continued to grow in August, far exceeding the levels of the same period last year."

This data is compiled from the three-month moving average by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization.

Asia-Pacific and Americas as Key Growth Drivers, Regional Performance Varies Significantly‌

From a regional perspective, the Asia-Pacific/Other regions showed the strongest annual growth, with a remarkable increase of 43.1%, followed by the Americas with a growth of 25.5%. China maintained a healthy growth of 12.4%, while Europe saw a modest rise of 4.4%. Japan was the only region to experience a decline, decreasing by 6.9% year-over-year.

In terms of month-over-month performance, markets across regions generally improved:

Asia-Pacific/All Other Regions: +6.9%

Americas: +4.3%

China: +3.3%

Japan: +2.0%

Europe: +1.0%

It is evident that, with the exception of Japan, all major global semiconductor markets achieved positive month-over-month growth in August, with the Asia-Pacific region being particularly active.

‌What Are the Driving Factors Behind This Growth?‌

This wave of strong growth in semiconductor sales is primarily driven by downstream demand in areas such as artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, automotive electronics, and consumer electronics. In particular, the rising shipments of AI chips and memory chips have driven the overall sales increase.

On the other hand, regional differences also reflect adjustments in supply chain layouts and market demand—the Asia-Pacific region continues to be the core driver of global semiconductor manufacturing and consumption.
